Jenny Farrell has worked in magazine journalism for more than 30 years on a diverse range of titles from yachting magazines, current affairs, home titles to women’s magazines, and she reckons she has found the perfect job: editing a magazine about the very best of New Zealand.
Having edited the biggest selling monthly magazine in New Zealand, The Australian Women’s Weekly, for five years, Jenny was appointed editor of Air New Zealand’s inflight magazine when ACP Magazines relaunched it in 2004, and was responsible for creating a premium title which found instant appeal with readers, increasing its readership by more than 50 percent in the first three years. With an audience of 12 million passengers worldwide annually, KiaOra’s job is to entertain, inform and inspire. Each month Jenny and her team deliver a magazine packed with excellent features on New Zealand and international travel, business, sport, food and wine, books and music, and events.
"The great thing about KiaOra is that it's a reflection of where New Zealand has found itself in the 21st century," she says. "Its economy and society has changed radically inside a generation. New Zealanders are innovative, cutting edge but also stylish and clean and green. Our sports people, winemakers, filmmakers and fashion designers are up there with the very best in the world. We get to report on that wonderful mix every day and that's what makes it so rewarding." |
